Obama’s Audacity of Despair

Senator Obama spent upwards of 5 million dollars last night to let all of America know a few things about his presidency. In one of the most self-centered moves ever pulled off in American politics, he let us know what a horrible country we all live in, and how he and the Democrat led government will fix it for you.

In his own little mock up of the Oval Office, he let us know what the key to fixing America is…snacks. Yes, that’s right; one family that has to ration snack food to their children has led us down the path to the largest takeover of private business by the federal government in the history of this nation.

If it was not the lack of snacks that have done us in, it must be the woman who cannot decide if it is going to be a gallon of milk or a half gallon. With problems like these rampant in America, who needs a strong military, or a President who has such a firm grasp of foreign policy?

The truth be told, there was nothing funny whatsoever about Obama’s infomercial, last night. What we saw was what his vision is of America today. He sees a country of people with problems, and they have no idea how to solve them. Once again, he has shown the true belief of a far left liberal…the only true solutions come from government.

This sad idea is not new. Roosevelt and Johnson have their finger prints all over the nanny state that exists today, and the programs have never worked. If the ideas to end poverty, and put people back to work have been so successful, then why do these problems still exist today…and according to Obama, in greater numbers then ever?

Throwing more money at these problems will not make them go away, and will only make the ignorant say that we need to do even more.

What we really need is the government to take less of what we have to give to others, and let people keep more of what they have. There should be no penalty for being successful in America.

Beware of the Democrat's Coup d` 'etat.

In every nation that has suffered through a coup, the first rule of thumb is to take control of the media. As we come with in one week of the presidential election, a very similar thing has happened here in America.

The main stream media has been taken over by the liberals…willingly. There has been no doubt for many years there has been a liberal slant to the reporting not only on television, but in the newspapers, and on the internet. But now, there has been an outright takeover of the press, and they were willing to let it happen. Gone are all of the rules the press was founded on.

We were taught in our high school journalism class; Who, What, When, Where, Why…this was what was needed to know to write a solid article. These five simple questions, and to verify sources, nothing more was needed.

Now we live in an environment where a woman’s clothing is more important then the relationships of a Presidential candidate; where a man who asks a simple question of a Presidential candidate is subjected to the full force of investigation by the national press.

Let us be very aware of what the press is going to be capable of if the liberals take over the government. With the full protection of the constitution, they will be able to investigate anyone. Freedom of the press will be the shield liberals will use to look into anyone that speaks out against them. Just look at their idea to bring back a 59 year old regulation written to keep television from running radio out of business. The Fairness Doctrine will be the hammer used to stomp out talk radio and Fox News.

If this seems to be somewhat alarmist, remember it has already started. Anyone who speaks out against Obama’s ideas is a racist, stupid, or some kind of right-wing nut.

Watch out for the press to become the not so secret police of the Democrats and liberals.

The last chance for John McCain.

John McCain has a problem. Not that he is going to lose what could be the last election of his career, but that he has too many options to use to win. The timetables on most are expired, but there are a few viable strategies left to him.

None of the options include ACORN, Ayers, Wright, or Rezko. These subjects, thanks to a compliant press, are not going to stick with the undecided voters. While these are real issues the American public should be worried about, they should have been exploited this past summer, and hammered home at the convention. Their time has come and gone.

So now, where do we go as a party? Not only to keep the White House, but to stem the tide in Congress. ISSUES.

The GOP needs to find a way to take back the two issues they have lost to the Democrats during this campaign…the economy, and taxes.

Part of the reason Obama is running only a few points ahead of McCain in the most recent national polls is people do not really believe he or the Democrats will lower taxes, or fix the economy. The other side of this is McCain has never really found a way to grab hold of either of these issues. The same old Republican talking points will only get him so far this time around. This is a unique economic situation, and it requires a unique idea to bring voters back to the party that has traditionally ruled when it comes to these issues.

John McCain threw away his best chance to win the election by voting for the $700 billion bailout package. If he had stood his ground, and supported the path of his party, he would have vaulted into a lead even Obama’s machine would be hard pressed to over come. Over 70% of Americans were opposed to the first version of the package, and the version that passed was at best, a 50-50 proposition.

Now, I am not willing to argue with McCain over his reasons…if he truly felt it was in the best interest of the nation then he had to vote for the package. That is the slogan of his campaign. However, he now has to live with that vote, and find a way to defend it to the American people, or better yet do the one thing no one has done, tell us how they will pay back the American people.

What if John McCain, with the blessing and backing of the Republicans running for national office, were to offer such a way?

If he were to gather all of the top brass of the GOP, hold a press conference, and announce that in the third year of his term, he would give every citizen of the nation a $2000 tax credit, he would go a long way to building the confidence of the voters. Not only would he be building confidence, but making a strong case to get the Republicans a majority in both houses.

If this were out there, and he could spend the last two weeks of the election talking about taxes, and his plan to give the American people their money back, he just might have a chance.
